McNeese State has slated eight cross country meets for the coming season and will kick of the year with its own event. The Cowboys and the Cowgirls will host the McNeese six mile relay on Sept. 2 to start the season. Teams entered thus far are UL-Lafayette and Southeastern Louisiana with Lamar a possibility.

The 2008 Cowboy Football Camp drew to a close Tuesday afternoon with over 260 campers taking part. The camp had started on Sunday afternoon with a single workout and then two more workouts were held both Monday and Tuesday. Players 10 years of age up to the 11th grade took part in the camp whose staff included the entire McNeese State football coaching staff as well as area high school coaches.
